Vox Satchurator Review

Once again, guitar genius Joe Satriani and tech giant Vox have teamed up to engineer another musical winner. The Vox Satchurator enables even the novice to engineer their own distortion styles fashioned after Satriani himself.

If distortion is your thing, then the Vox Satchurator can give you the necessary tools. This pedal is tough, user friendly, and gives a natural flair to enable even the beginner easy transitions from riffs into muted or wild distortion effects.

This pedal is aesthetically pleasing, yet it is also sturdy and offers every sound from subdued and tame to rough and growling. It is important to note that once the Vox Satchurator is on, the distortion is on. No matter what you play or don’t play, there will be at least a minor amount of distortion and humming noise emanating from the box. However, the volume knob is very sensitive, and can be adjusted as needed to eliminate the feedback distortion noises and humming sounds.

The pedal seems to offer the great positive of not having to bend over to constantly adjust the volume and options once you get your main sound attuned. An interesting twist that comes with the Satchurator is a “More” knob. This allows for greater gain when using this switch along with the pedal itself.

There is another toggle switch in the Satchurator called the “Pad” switch. This allows the pedal to combine sounds with other types of pedals including wah pedals without losing tone or detracting from the Satchurator.

Most testers have noted that the Vox Satchurator is built extremely heavy duty and solid. Although most will not throw it around per say, it is nice to know that it is durable, most likely long-lasting, and could take a beating – say in transit or from a wild band member’s angry outburst.

Although it will be impossible to become Joe Satriani and generate his exact distortions, the Vox Satchurator will allow for the production of sounds and tones that are very similar to the guitar legend’s himself. If distortion is desired, and Satriani is the distortion model, then the Satchurator is the way to go. Due to its ease of use and quick setup for initial play, the Vox Satchurator seems to be a great, fun, and highly versatile distortion pedal for both those who love Satriani’s style and those that may not be familiar.
